AURO Gildr is a hand-painted abstract in heavy impasto acrylic: raw gold erupting through layers of charcoal and white, the surface built up by hand until it holds light the way stone holds warmth. Gildr: Old Norse for gold. It earns the name.
This is not a print with a painted edge. The texture is structural — raised, dimensional, made by a human hand working slowly across the canvas. You can see the decisions in it. The sweep of a palette knife. The drag of a brush loaded with gold. Each piece is unique because each piece is made, not manufactured.
The canvas ships rolled and is stretched on arrival onto a solid pine frame — a deliberate choice that protects the texture in transit and ensures it arrives intact. The composition works in portrait orientation, anchoring a wall rather than filling it. Above a sofa, behind a dining table, at the end of a hallway — it stops people.

- Avoid hanging in direct sunlight or in rooms with sustained high humidity (bathrooms, kitchens). UV exposure will fade the gold over time.
- The raised impasto texture is durable once fully cured but can be damaged by impact. Handle the canvas by the frame, not the painted surface.
- If the canvas requires re-stretching after delivery, dampen the back lightly with a clean, damp cloth and allow to dry flat before stretching.

- Q: The listing says the canvas ships rolled — does that mean it arrives without a frame? A: Yes. The canvas is shipped rolled to protect the raised impasto texture in transit. A solid pine stretcher frame is included. On arrival, the canvas is stretched over the frame — this takes approximately 10–15 minutes and requires no tools. Full instructions are included in the packaging.
- Q: Is the gold real gold leaf, or is it gold-coloured paint? A: The gold elements are applied using gold foil and metallic acrylic paint — not real gold leaf. The effect is visually indistinguishable from gold leaf at normal viewing distances and will not tarnish or flake under normal indoor conditions.
- Q: My painting looks slightly different from the product photo — is that normal? A: Yes, completely normal. Because each piece is painted by hand, the exact placement of brushstrokes, the depth of the impasto texture, and the distribution of gold will vary naturally between pieces. The overall composition, palette, and character of the painting will be consistent — but your piece is genuinely unique.
- Q: Can this be hung horizontally as well as vertically? A: The composition is designed for portrait (vertical) orientation. The brushwork and gold placement are structured around a vertical format. Hanging it horizontally will alter the intended balance of the piece and is not recommended.

How do I know what size to choose?
Every product page lists exact dimensions for each option. For wall art, your piece should fill roughly two-thirds of the wall space above your furniture — measure the width and multiply by 0.6 to 0.75. Hang it with the centre at eye level, around 150cm from the floor.
For lighting, a simple rule used by top designers: add your room's length and width in metres, multiply by 2.5, and that gives you the ideal fixture width in centimetres.
Pendants over a dining table should hang 75-90cm above the table surface.

We do our best to ensure accurate colour representation, but slight variations can occur due to screen settings and lighting conditions. Our products are produced to match the listing images as closely as possible.
