Jord is a 100% handmade oil painting on canvas — worked in sweeping, layered strokes across a palette of warm ochre, deep umber, raw sienna, and muted blue. The surface is dimensional: oil paint built up in thick, physical marks that catch the light and shift with the time of day. In morning light the ochres come forward. In the evening, under warm amber, the painting deepens. No two pieces are identical. The canvas arrives frameless, ready to hang directly or be placed into a frame of your choosing — a frame is not included.
At 60×90cm, Jord holds a wall with quiet authority. At 90×130cm or 100×150cm, it becomes the room's defining object — the thing every guest notices first and asks about last. This is not a print. - Q: Is this a print or an original painting? A: It is a 100% handmade original oil painting — not a print, not a reproduction, and not digitally enhanced. Every piece is painted by hand on cotton canvas. The 3D texture is physically built up in oil paint by the artist. No two pieces are identical.
- Q: There is a faint smell when I unbox it — is this normal? A: Yes, completely normal. Handmade oil paintings can carry a faint solvent or linseed oil smell when first unboxed, particularly after being sealed in transit packaging. Place it in a well-ventilated room for 24–48 hours and the smell will dissipate fully.
- Q: How do I hang a canvas this large safely? A: For the 90×130cm and 100×150cm sizes, we recommend using two wall anchors or picture hooks spaced evenly across the top of the canvas frame, rather than a single central hook. This distributes the weight and keeps the canvas level. The timber stretcher frame has pre-fitted hanging hardware on the reverse. For solid walls, use appropriate wall plugs and screws rated for the canvas weight.
- Q: Will the colours look exactly like the product photos? A: The warm ochre, umber, and sienna palette is consistent across all pieces — there is very little colour variation to worry about. Screen calibration can affect how warm or cool the tones appear on different devices, but the actual painting will be consistent with what is shown. Because each piece is handmade, the exact placement and intensity of brushstrokes will vary — this is a feature of the process, not a defect.
- Q: Can I hang it in a bathroom or kitchen? A: We recommend against it. Oil paint on canvas is sensitive to sustained humidity and steam. The painting is best suited to living rooms, bedrooms, dining rooms, hallways, and offices — rooms with stable temperature and low humidity.

How do I know what size to choose?
Every product page lists exact dimensions for each option. For wall art, your piece should fill roughly two-thirds of the wall space above your furniture — measure the width and multiply by 0.6 to 0.75. Hang it with the centre at eye level, around 150cm from the floor.
For lighting, a simple rule used by top designers: add your room's length and width in metres, multiply by 2.5, and that gives you the ideal fixture width in centimetres.
Pendants over a dining table should hang 75-90cm above the table surface.
