The AURO Skjell is an object that earns its place on a wall by the quality of what it holds. Its shell form — a single piece of colored glass, curved and gathered at the base — catches the light from within and turns it into something warm, diffused, and entirely its own. Amber. Beige. Green. Copper. Each colorway changes the room it sits in.
The Skjell was designed for the walls that need something considered on them. The living room wall that has been bare too long. The bedroom alcove that finally has the right object. The hallway that earns its atmosphere the moment you walk through the door. Its E14 socket accepts any bulb you choose — a warm filament for evenings, a higher-output LED for reading. The lamp does not prescribe. It accommodates.
Installation is standard hardwired wall-mount — the same as any wall light. The glass body is fixed to a small backplate that covers the wall rose. Clean. Considered. No visible hardware once it is on the wall.

- Switch off and allow the lamp to cool completely before cleaning.
- Wipe the glass shade with a soft, dry or slightly damp microfibre cloth. Do not use abrasive cloths, solvents, or chemical cleaners — these will damage the glass surface.
- Do not submerge or expose to water. The Skjell is rated for indoor dry use only.
- To avoid fingerprints on the glass, handle the shade from the base rather than the body when adjusting or cleaning.
- Use an E14 LED bulb rated at 5W or below. Do not exceed the maximum wattage — higher-wattage bulbs generate excess heat that may stress the glass over time.
- Installation must be carried out by a qualified electrician. Do not attempt DIY hardwired installation unless you are a competent person under Part P of the Building Regulations (UK).

- Q: Does this lamp need to be hardwired, or does it plug into a socket? A: The Skjell is a hardwired wall light — it connects directly to your mains wiring, the same as any standard wall sconce. It does not plug into a socket. Installation should be carried out by a qualified electrician.
- Q: What is the maximum bulb wattage I can use? A: The Skjell is rated for a 5W E14 bulb. We recommend staying at or below 5W — higher-wattage bulbs generate more heat, which can stress the glass shade over extended use. A 5W warm white LED (2700–3000K) gives excellent results with the colored glass.
- Q: Does the glass shade get hot during use? A: With a 5W LED E14 bulb, the glass shade remains cool to the touch. LED bulbs produce very little heat compared to incandescent or halogen. We strongly recommend LED over incandescent for use with glass shades.
- Q: Can I use a smart bulb or dimmable bulb with this lamp? A: Yes. The E14 socket accepts any standard E14 bulb, including smart bulbs (e.g., Philips Hue E14) and dimmable LED bulbs. The lamp itself has switch control only — dimming requires either a dimmable bulb connected to a wall dimmer switch, or a smart bulb controlled via app.

How do I know what size to choose?
Every product page lists exact dimensions for each option. For wall art, your piece should fill roughly two-thirds of the wall space above your furniture — measure the width and multiply by 0.6 to 0.75. Hang it with the centre at eye level, around 150cm from the floor.
For lighting, a simple rule used by top designers: add your room's length and width in metres, multiply by 2.5, and that gives you the ideal fixture width in centimetres.
Pendants over a dining table should hang 75-90cm above the table surface.

Will the colours match what I see on screen?
We do our best to ensure accurate colour representation, but slight variations can occur due to screen settings and lighting conditions. Our products are produced to match the listing images as closely as possible.
